In early February, the US Senate passed a security package worth $95 billion, including $60 billion in aid to Ukraine.

Mr. Johnson has so far refused to put the above bill to a vote in the US House of Representatives.

On the evening of February 25, the White House announced the President’s weekly schedule, including the February 27 meeting with Congressional leaders.

Mr. Johnson’s office later confirmed to Bloomberg that the Republican would attend the meeting with Mr. Biden.

When the new aid bill was passed in the Senate, House Speaker Johnson wanted to meet Mr. Biden directly before taking any action.

`What else is there to negotiate? What’s the use of face-to-face negotiations when he’s already received exactly what he asked for?`, Hill quoted White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre as saying during a press conference.

`He is blocking the bills himself,` Ms. Jean-Pierre said.

Hard-line Republicans in the House of Representatives have fierce opposition to the more than $60 billion aid package for Ukraine.

The US’s slow approval of aid to Ukraine has affected the situation on the ground in Ukraine.

While the US delayed, the EU increased aid to Ukraine, most recently the bloc passed a financial package worth 50 billion euros over 4 years.

Military experts say that Europe’s commitments are not enough to fill the gap left by the US.
